Why did Joe Biden give Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson the Presidential Citizens Medal? And why did Biden give Hillary Clinton and George Soros the Presidential Medal of Freedom? He – and his handlers – knew it would infuriate the Republicans and those on the right.
So why not have Donald Trump give medals to the following? BTW please add to this list if I omitted someone you think is deserving.

I would recommend cheapening the value of the honor by engaging in tit for tat. It should be awarded based on merit alone.

I completely agree. But merit is often in the eye of the beholder.
